Steps to determine the ideal salt level

1. Check your chlorinator’s recommendations

Each salt chlorinator has its own specifications. Refer to the user manual of your Pool Technologie device to find the recommended salinity range to ensure optimal sanitizer production.

4. Adjust the salt level if necessary

If the measured concentration is below the recommended value, add special pool salt. Conversely, if the level is too high, a partial water dilution may be necessary. Use the salt calculator to find your pool’s requirements in just a few clicks.

2. Measure the current water salinity

Use a salt tester or a conductivity meter specifically designed for pools treated by salt electrolysis. The result is generally expressed in grams per liter (g/L) or in parts per million (ppm).

5. Allow the salt to dissolve completely

After adding the salt, keep the filtration running for at least 24 hours to achieve homogeneous dissolution and a reliable salinity measurement. Ensure that the salt does not clump at the bottom; use a pool cleaner or brush the bottom to make sure the salt is caught in the water flow.

3. Verify the recommended operating range

Depending on the pool chlorinator model, the optimal salt level is generally between 2.5 and 5 kg/m³ (2,500 to 5,000 ppm) in Normal Salt mode. This concentration allows for efficient chlorine production while ensuring swimmer comfort. For low salinity devices (Low Salt), the optimal salt level ranges between 1.5 and 2.5 kg/m³.

6. Check the salt level again

Once the mixing is complete, take a new measurement to verify that your salt pool falls within the range recommended by your water electrolysis system.
